Quite interesting phenomenon in Ukrainian music space is interest in bandura performance. And it is not the revival of folk traditions in their authentic form, but rather about the use of ethnic instruments in popular music. This trend is at the moment still has not found sufficient scientific justification, which determines the relevance of the problems outlined. There are two forms of operation bandura performance: national and household concert, which differ not only from the repertoire and style of play, but also had significant differences toolkit. People performing domestic focused on instruments made from old samples, while academic bandura art immediately welcomed interpreted structurally improved tools. At the end of 90-th years is to popularize bandura creativity by combining it with other performing sometimes unusual compositions. Modern bandura art – is an important integral part of Ukrainian musical culture that is in constant development and updating, improved tools, methods enrich the game significantly expands the repertoire, new soloists-virtuosos, new original groups. Within this trend, a number of groups belonging to different stylistic directions of rock and pop music, which are beginning to include bandura as one of the essential tools. Usually this is folk-rock groups. A striking example of bandura in rock music band is “Shadow of the Sun”. Another group that is actively using bandura – a female trio “Kralya”, performing cover versions of the best international and Ukrainian pop hits, excerpts from musicals, jazz compositions. There are several groups that have only recently started their artistic career – a group “Brothers”, duo B & B Project, Jaroslav Dzhus and George Matveyev. Lviv duet “Crossed Parallels”, consisting of saxophone and bandura mixed styles such as jazz, rock, ethno and pop. Thus, it may be noted that the Ukrainian bandura cultural space is a tool, which recently treated representatives of different musical styles and directions, which are part of subcultures. For the folk-rock, “Cossack rock” appeal to the bandura is not just important from the standpoint of technical and expressive possibilities of the instrument, but above all a symbol of the national idea, which is trying to defend members of the group. For Bandura musicians who played mostly cover versions of pop songs, this repertoire is the ability to promote their own work. However, the emergence of interesting combinations is a manifestation of dissemination towards World music, which incorporates achievements of pop music, jazz and folklore around the world, which certainly is a promising formation that has great culture creativity. |
