| Abstract: | The article analyses the impact of political and military conflicts on the Olympic Games, from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. The article also examines examples of political and military interventions that took place during the Olympics, in particular during the Second World War, the bloody events in Mexico City (1968) and Munich (1972), as well as the conflicts in Georgia and Ukraine during the 2008 and 2014 Olympics. It is concluded that, despite the ideals of the Olympic truce, war and politics remain an integral part of Olympic history. |
