Abstract

This article investigates the main regularities of interaction of lexical meanings of words in the word-combinations “verb + noun” with the verbs of motion and physical perception in Modern English. It was discovered that each of the meanings ofpolysemantic word has its own semantic context The semantic meaning of the verb determines the semantic subclass of the noun, which is in the Junction of objective syntactical element. Two types of relations between the verb and the noun were discovered: the noun can signify the object of the action or measure.
