This paper examines the problem of fixing musical material in the context of the modern information environment and analyzes the major trends in the works of Bogdan Kotyuk and describes the cultural and artistic activities of the composer. The development of art, the evolution of aesthetic thought, a relationship between the creative and scientific principles indicate a permanent change of emphasis in the priority of one or another kind of human activity. For modern Ukrainian music is peculiar coexistence and complementarity of the two types of thinking. In this we convinced when analyzing the activities of individual representatives of the world of music, which is a landmark figure in contemporary society. The combination of research and creative activity is so common factor that sometimes seems more natural thing than the concentration of representative musical world solely on artistic or scientific processes. Through research the artist gets adequate technical basis for their work, expanding their own imagination and makes the creative process in empirical significant element controlled rationalism. It is through research composer Bogdan Kotyuk deepen their knowledge of music psychology and sociology, which helps address the ongoing focus on art. Composer Bohdan Kotyuk intuitive process of forming sound palette is constantly controlled logical expectation that the resistance has a specific scientific basis. Therefore, research in different areas of music every composer stimulate purely creative process. It is significant that even in school, not performance, namely research and creative activity (not competing but complementary to each other) formed the artistic image of the composer Bogdan Kotyuk. Scientific work always accompanies the creative process that would plots of aesthetic or historical trends in the field of music was not intended to focus the researcher. A deep interest in music theory, including its revolutionary development in the twentieth century. Gave impetus to the emergence of a number of papers that have been successfully delivered to the Republican and All-Union scientific student conferences. The main topics of scientific theorist B.Kotyuk’s student work – a theory of the fundamental tone Paul Hindemith, Serialism Anton Webern, and two types of musical drama and logic shaping originating in the German and French traditions. Such research interests supported by thorough study of composition techniques. Own creative pursuits were based on the desire to go beyond the established classic formal stereotypes. Accordingly scientific base enabled to grasp the essence of innovation in shaping and musical drama that went beyond the traditional functional system of major-minor and conventional linear-harmonic system.
