Abstract

В статье освещены биографические данные и научные достижения известного ученого в области биотехнологии, экологии, агроэкологии и микробиологии, доктора биологических наук, профессора, академика НААН Украины, лауреата Государственной премии Украины в области науки и техники, заслуженного деятеля науки и техники Украины, почетного профессора Харьковского национального аграрного университета, Уманского национального университета садоводства, Полтавской государственной аграрной академии, заведующего отделом фитопатогенных бактерий Института микробиологии и вирусологии им. Д. К. Заболотного НАН Украины Владимира Филипповича Патыки. Приведены пожелания научного сообщества по случаю 70-летия со дня рождения.

The article highlights the life and work of Volodymyr Pylypovych Patyka, doctor of biological sciences, professor, academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, laureate of Ukrainian state prize in the field of science and technology, honored scientist of Ukraine, honoured professor of Kharkiv National Agricultural University, Uman National University of Horticulture, Poltava State Agrarian Academy, Head of the phytopathogenic bacteria Department in Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology, NAS of Ukraine. It also gives a brief account of his scientific achievements in the fields of biotechnology, ecology, agroecology and microbiology and grants wishes expressed by scientific community on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary. The article gives an overview of V. Patyka’s significant contribution to the development of ecology, agroecology, biotechnology, soil microbiology, biological nitrogen fixation and soil phosphorus mobilization, microbiological plant protection from pests and rodents, plant selection to enhance nitrogen-fixing capacity, bacterial plant diseases and their pathogens, etc. He has authored over 725 scientific works, a number of reviews and research papers, has also co-authored 21 scholarly monographs. He has 44 patents and author’s certificates. V.P. Patyka in his capacity of academician promotes scientific work: under his supervision 12 doctors and 18 candidates of sciences obtained their degrees and joined a galaxy of men of science. V.P. Patyka is a member of the editorial boards of leading academic journals: “Microbiology Journal”, “Physiology and Genetics of Plants”, “Bulletin of Kharkiv National Agrarian University, Biology”, “Journal of Uman National University of Horticulture”, “Microbiology and Biotechnology”, “Agricultural Science and Practice”, etc., a member of Scientific Councils of D.K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Uman National University of Horticulture; a member of the Committee of the State prizes of Ukraine in science and technology.
