Жанровий діапазон живописного доробку Золтана Шолтеса

Abstract

У статті розглянуто мистецький доробок З. Шолтеса у контексті розвитку таких жанрів живопису Закарпаття, як портрет, натюрморт, сакральна тематика, побутовий жанр. Проведено порівняльний аналіз між роботами З. Шолтеса та його сучасників. Здійснено мистецтвознавчий аналіз збережених творів митця у вказаних жанрах, проаналізовано особливості його творчого методу та художньої мови.

В статье рассмотрено художественное наследие З. Шолтеса в контексте развития таких жанров живописи Закарпатья, как портрет, натюрморт, сакральная тема, бытовой жанр. Проведено сравнительный анализ между работами З. Шолтеса и его современников. Осуществлено искусствоведческий анализ сохраненных произведений художника в указанных жанрах, проанализировано особенности его творческого метода и художественного языка.

Contemporary Ukrainian art criticism shows the increased attention to the problems, processes and names representing the Transcarpathian school of painting. However, despite the considerable number of publications devoted to this regional school, many issues still remain unanswered and need to be solving, including little-known aspects of creativity of Z. Sholtes. Zoltan Sholtes (1909–1990) – is one of the most famous representative of Ukrainian fine art of the XX-th century, but his name is not sufficiently studied in scientific works yet. Priority genre in the works of Z. Sholtes was the landscape. And these paintings were the main subject of scientific interest in most existing publications about artist. The main problem now is to develop the holistic vision of Z. Sholtes’s creative personality. A whole range of genres, including portraits, religious subjects, urban landscape and genre art should be involved in the analysis. Most of these works represents an early period of artist’s creativity. Unfortunately, the works on sacred subjects not preserved. We know that the style and language of these works of art was influenced by Y. Bokshay. A few still lifes prove difficult art style and language searching. Especially successful is the work in portrait genre. “Marijka from the Uzhok”, “Old man with a pipe” are recognized as an artistic phenomenon of great magnitude that can be put on a par with the highest achievements of Carpathian portrait of the time. The landscape was the main activity of Z. Sholtes. In the same time, scenes from the life of highlanders often appear in the artist's landscapes. These paintings, such us “Village near the river”, “At the mountain lake” are perceived as genre art. In some of them the artist refuses landscape and focuses on the images and story (“Uzhhorod. Mill”). Involvement in scientific use and analysis of all these works of art will complement the existing vision of creativity Z. Sholtes as landscape painter, and help to clarify the characteristics of his work in the early period of creativity.
