Засоби вираження прагматичного рівня вторинної мовної особистості в художньому дискурсі

Abstract

У статті охарактеризовано прагматичний рівень вторинної мовної особистості та засоби його об'єктивації в сучасному англомовному художньому дискурсі. Досліджено засоби реалізації авторських інтенцій та досягнення перлокутивного ефекту в романах англомовних британських письменниць українського походження. Вивчено, як використання стилістичних засобів і прийомів сприяє реалізації авторських інтенцій.

Ukrainian identity of Ukrainian and English speaking authors can be unfolded in their literary works. At the pragmatic level it can be identified with the help of subjective modality markers that reveal writers' intentions, namely attempts to get Europeans familiar with Ukrainian culture, traditions and language. To achieve the above mentioned perlocutive effect in her novel Bequest Anna Shevchenko resorts to such means as the usage of precedent names, historical facts and dates, making to references to the background information about Slavic countries. Having similar intentions mentioned in her interviews, Maryna Lewycka failed to achieve the perlocutive effect because of mistakenly used tactics. In her novel A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian she made laugh of Ukrainians' bad habits and traits of character, which made Ukrainians furious and led to disapprovals of her novel in Ukraine. Though the fail to consider the differences between English and Ukrainian humour didn't prevent from drawing a wide response among English speaking readers, it was strongly criticized by Ukrainian writers and average readers.
