Abstract

The development of tourism in protected areas is considered as an important factor in the sustainable development of territorial communities. It highlights the economic, social and environmental benefits that ecotourism provides, in particular through examples from South Africa, New Zealand and Chile. Particular attention is paid to the need for a balanced approach to tourism development, which takes into account environmental constraints and the needs of local residents. Cooperation between communities, government agencies and business is key to success.
