Невідомий Петро Ніщинський (за матеріалами щоденника та епістолярію архімандрита Антоніна (Капустіна))

Abstract

Метою статті є реконструкція невідомих сторінок біографії знаменитого українського композитора, письменника, поета-перекладача, культурного діяча Петра Івановича Ніщинського (1832–1896) на основі щоденника та епістолярію архімандрита Антоніна (Капустіна; 1817–1894). Методологія наукової розвідки поєднує низку гуманітарних підходів, серед яких основними є мікроісторичний та біографічний. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає у відновленні забутих фактів із життєпису маестро, пов’язаних із його довготривалими та непростими взаєминами з шанованою постаттю ХІХ століття, зокрема в період навчання на філологічному та теологічному факультетах Афінського університету і в перші роки викладацької та просвітницької діяльності. Висновки. Джерела особового походження начальника духовних місій в Афінах, Константинополі, Єрусалимі відкривають чимало цікавих сторінок у творчій біографії його референта Петра Ніщинського. Попри напружені відносини, які тривали майже півстоліття, обоє маститих представників інтелігенції не припиняли спілкування, духовний отець нерідко надавав матеріальну підтримку своєму келійнику, висловлював поради з приводу його сімейного життя, кар’єрного зросту, педагогічної та видавничої діяльності, інших важливих аспектів праці й побуту. Любов до України змусила композитора повернутися з еміграції, аби творити прекрасні артефакти в царині музичного мистецтва і художньої літератури, які назавжди ввійшли до золотого фонду національно-культурного відродження. Подальшого вивчення потребує інтерес митця до літургічного музикознавства і музичної медієвістики, зокрема візантиністики й палеославістики. Збереглися свідчення, що Петро Ніщинський виконував функції протопсалта на богослужіннях у церкві духовної місії Афін, настоятелем якої був архімандрит Антонін (Капустін), та впевнено дешифрував піснеспіви, зафіксовані новогрецькою невменною нотацією.

The purpose of the article is to reconstruct the unknown pages of the biography of the famous Ukrainian composer, writer, poet-translator and cultural figure Petro Ivanovych Nishchynskyi (1832–1896) based on the Diary and Epistolary of Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin; 1817–1894). The methodology of scientific article combines a number of humanitarian approaches, among which the main ones are micro-historical and biographical. The scientific novelty of the study consists in the recovery of forgotten facts from the biography of the maestro, related to his long-term and difficult relations with the revered figure of the 19th century, in particular during the period of study at the philological and theological faculties of the University of Athens and in the first years of teaching and educational activities. Conclusions. The sources of the personal origin of the head of the spiritual missions in Athens, Constantinople, Jerusalem reveal many interesting pages in the biography of his referent Petro Nishchynskyi. Despite the strained relationship that lasted for almost half a century, both venerable representatives of the intelligentsia did not stop communicating, the spiritual father often provided material support to his cell-attendant, gave advice on his family life, career growth, pedagogical and publishing activities and other important aspects of work and life. Love for Ukraine forced the composer to return from emigration in order to create beautiful artifacts in the realm of musical art and fiction, which were forever included in the golden fund of national and cultural revival. The artist’s interest in liturgical musicology and musical medieval studies, in particular Byzantine studies and Paleo-Slavic studies, requires further research. Evidence has been preserved that Petro Nishchynskyi performed the functions of protopsalt at services in the church of the spiritual mission of Athens, the abbot of which was Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin), and he confidently deciphered the hymns recorded in Modern Greek neume notation.
