Громадсько-політична та державотворча діяльність Лонгина Цегельського (1875–1950 рр.)

Abstract

У дисертації всебічно проаналізовано громадсько-політичну та державотворчу діяльність Лонгина Цегельського – відомого українського громадсько-політичного та державного діяча. Cистемно переосмислено напрацювання українських і зарубіжних істориків, з’ясовано стан і ступінь наукової розробки зазначеної проблематики, виявлено додаткову джерельну основу теми. Простежено фopмyвання світогляду та особистості Л. Цeгельcькoго. Oхарактеризовано його участь у студентському русі та перші кроки у політичній кар’єрі, Українській націонал-демократичній партії, проаналізовано його депутатську діяльність у віденському парламенті й Галицькому сеймі та державотворчу діяльність у добу національно-визвольних змагань. З’ясовано роль Л. Цегельського у партійно-політичному житті, реалізації ідеї соборності українських земель. Висвітлено громадсько-політичну, наукову та культурну діяльність Л. Цегельського в еміграції у США.

В диссертации всесторонне проанализирована деятельность Лонгина Цегельского – известного украинского общественно-политического и государственного деятеля. Системно переосмыслено наработки украинских и зарубежных историков, установлено состояние и степень научной разработки указанной проблематики, определено дополнительную источниковую основу по данной темы. Прослежено фopмирование мировоззрения и личности Л. Цeгельcкoго. Oхарактеризовано его участие в студенческом движении и первые шаги в политической карьере, Украинской национал-демократической партии, проанализированы его депутатская деятельность в венском парламенте и Галицком сейме и государственная деятельность в период национально- освободительной борьбы. Выяснена роль Л. Цегельского в партийно- политической жизни, реализации идеи соборности украинских земель. Освещена общественно-политическая, научная и культурная деятельность Л. Цегельского в эмиграции в США.

The dissertation thoroughly analyzes the activity of Lonhyn Tsehelskyi, a well- known Ukrainian public-political and state figure. The works of Ukrainian and foreign historians are systematically rethinking, the state and degree of scientific development of the mentioned problem are clarified, the additional source basis of this topic is established, the methodology and methodic of the further direction of the problem are determined. The formation of a worldview and personality of L. Tsehelskyi is investigated. The emphasis is on the little-known pages of his biography. It was found out that the defining periods, which especially influenced the process of forming the personality of L. Tsehelskyi and his subsequent life position, were childhood and adolescence, first of all, the family environment and upbringing. The personality of Lonhyn Tsehelskyi as a politician and public figure in the last period of the existence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire is considered. His participation in the students' movement and the first steps in his political career are characterized. As chairman of the «Academichna Hromada» L. Tsehelskyi was marked by a leader's initiative and organizational skills. It is noted that at the beginning of the twenty century L. Tsehelskyi, to a certain extent departed from activity in student organizations, actively participated in the work of political and public associations. Participation of L. Tsehelskyi in the Ukrainian National-Democratic Party is discussed, his ambassador's activity in the Vienna Parliament and The Diet of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria are analyzed. It was emphasized that L. Tsehelskyi's ambassadorial activity began in the period when the western Ukrainian society was under the influence of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Due to his clear position and oratory skills, he exposed the anti-people policies of the tsisar government, criticized and condemned the Russophiles of Galicia, defended the interests and rights of Ukrainian peasants. In addition, the political activity of L. Tsehelskyi during the First World War is analyzed. The study comprehensively analyzes the state-building and diplomatic activities of L. Tsehelskyi during the years of national liberation movement of the Ukrainian people. It was noted that among the Galician politicians L. Tsehelskyi was distinguished by theoretical and political preparation, far-sightedness and convincing position. Since the beginning of the liberation movement, the politician has been in favor of ensuring full autonomy and political equality of national minorities, the realization of which could be carried out, first of all, by peaceful, legitimate and legal methods. It is noted that special attention should be paid to the period of L. Tsehelskyi's life, which is connected with his activity in the time of the West Ukrainian People's Republic. L. Tsehelskyi initiated various kinds of state-political actions, showed considerable activity in various meetings, gatherings, manifests and conferences. The dissertation also highlights the socio-political, scientific and cultural activities of Lonhyn Tsehelskyi in emigration to the United States. The scientist's outlooks and his contribution to the development of the scientific and public-political life of the Ukrainian community in emigration and the establishment of Ukrainian- American relations are analyzed.
