The author states that fictional biographies of famous people have become a popular genre of literature in recent years. While they are based on documents, facts, personal memories, they also facilitate deep immersion in the character’s inner world, social and psychological nature of the actions. The article explains the necessity to study the language and style of fiction based on documentary sources and conduct complex literary and linguistic analysis with the view to defining its linguistic and stylistic specificity, outlines the main genre features of a biographical novel, including correlation of fact and fiction. For research the author chooses the biographical novel by the modem American writer Nancy Moser "Washington's Lady" in which the first-person narrative helps to focus on the inner world of the central character. It is found out that the style of writing can be characterized as relatively simple but the syntactic stylistic devices become means of expressing the character's feelings and emotions. The author makes a conclusion that the most productive syntactic means in the novel are various kinds of repetitions, parcellated constructions and parallelisms, polysyndeton and aposiopesis. They become means of expressing determination, doubt, concern, grief, sadness and other feelings and emotions. Their complex use and combination with graphical arrangement of the text intensify the emotions and describe the character as multi-sided personality.; У статті розглядаються особливості функціонування стилістичних засобів синтаксичного рівня у жанрі художньої біографії, зокрема у біографічному романі. Обгрунтовується необхідність дослідження мови і стилю художніх творів, основою яких є документальні матеріали, окреслюються основні жанрові особливості біографічного роману. The article deals with the investigation of the ways of the expression of the concept AMERICAN DREAM by various lexical means. Literature works of the 16, 17, 18 and 19th centuries that touch upon the question of the American Dream have been analyzed. Aiming to determine the main lexical means that stand for the investigated concept this research demonstrates the strong connection between language and culture and their influence on each other.; У статті розглянуто особливості способів вираження концепту AMERICAN DREAM різними лексичними засобами. Під концептом AMERICAN DREAM розуміли ментальну одиницю, мисленнєву структуру, що виражає певну ідеологічну, моральну та матеріалістичну основу американської нації. Основну увагу приділено характеристиці спектру засобів лексичної реалізації цієї ментальної одиниці. Проаналізовано літературні твори XVI, XVII, XVIII та XIX століть, у яких тим чи іншим способом виражено концепт AMERICAN DREAM. Основна зацікавленість статті полягає у відстеженні та відтворенні змін, яких зазнав концепт у процесі свого розвитку. Отримані дані свідчать про те, що рушійними факторами модифікації структури концепту AMERICAN DREAM та американської національної концептосфери загалом є зміна ціннісних і морально-етичних установок у соціумі. Особливості історичного розвитку СІЛА безпосередньо вплинули на формування Американської мрії як фрагменту дійсності. Описано найбільш виразні образні засоби: метафори-оживлення (антропометафори, зоометафори, ботанометафори) та метафори-опредмечування.; The article describes peculiarities of the artistic world of Temopil writer Mykhailo Levytskyi whose linguistic innovation is manifested primarily through usage of metaphors, widening the boundaries of lexical and syntactic connectivity, and formation of literary language poetic phraseology in 1960-70s. The source of metaphor is the national folklore and artistic tradition of perceiving the environment as a living being. "Animating” of objects and phenomena is a significant feature of Mykhailo Levytskyi’s poetics. Research is based on the poetry books "Mother’s Quails’’, "Tuesday”, "Where We Grow, We Must Blossom” and "Snow was Burning with Bullfinch.” The article sheds the light on the most expressive imagery, such as metaphors-animations (anthropometaphors, zoometaphors, botanometaphors) and metaphors-objectifications. One of the most prominent semantic and stylistic peculiarities in the poems by Mykhailo Levytskyi is the dominance of anthropometaphors which best represent the writer’s worldview and mood of lyrical hero. The artist uses zoometaphors and botanometers to describe the environment. Metaphorsobjectifications are quite rare. На матеріалі більш ніж 700 пропріативів здійснено лексико-семантичний та структурний аналіз цих найменувань. Встановлено, що найпродуктивнішимиу творенні досліджуваних назв були сучасні чоловічі та жіночі імена, їх повні форми та демінутивні варіанти. Також в основах найменувань контактів мобільного зв’язку зафіксовано конструкції, які складаються з прізвища та імені або імені та прізвища, імені та по батькові, виявлено прізвиська молоді, модифіковані варіанти прізвищ, імена людей та інші додаткові вказівки.; The article deals with the study of the young people’s mobile contact names. Lexico-semantic and structural analysis of these names has been made on the material of more than 700 proper names. It has been found that modem masculine and feminine names in particular their full forms and diminutive variants are the most productive in the creation of the investigated names (truncated, truncated-suffixed and suffixed derivatives). The constructions consisting of the surname and name or name and surname, name and patronym as the basics of the names of young people’s mobile contact names also have been described. In this way boys and girls write down the names of little-known people, teachers, or peers they have recently met. Young people often use nicknames or modified variants of surnames to identify their friends or close people and accordingly record those names in their own mobile contacts. A separate group of nominations collected form the names which denote people's names and additional information about the identified person (name + indication of occupation, name + indication of temporary residence, name + indication of belonging to a particular social group, name + territorial attribute).
