Назва: Peat resources of Khmelnytskyi oblast: current status of development, possibilities of use
Автори: Syvyi, Myroslav; Demyanchuk, Petro
Короткий огляд (реферат): The monograph section examines the peat resources of Khmelnytskyi Oblast, which belongs to the Podillya Forest-Steppe Peat-Swamp Region. The study establishes that 171 peat deposits have been discovered in the oblast with total geological reserves exceeding 75 million tons, although the state balance sheet accounts for only 44 deposits. It is noted that the deposits are concentrated mainly in the northern and central areas of the oblast.
The current state of peat development and possibilities for its utilization are analyzed. The potential of peat for the agro-industrial complex is explored, including its use in the form of composts, as livestock bedding, for the production of organo-mineral fertilizers, and as greenhouse substrate. Directions for the industrial and medical use of peat are also outlined, particularly for the extraction of peat wax, therapeutic muds, the production of activated carbon, natural dyes, and peat plastics for road construction.
The study highlights the problem of unsustainable resource use, which is caused by the decentralization of extraction, the low technical level of exploitation, and the absence of reclamation works. Consequently, many deposits become unsuitable for further use. The necessity of improving the territorial organization of peat extraction is substantiated by creating links to ensure the centralized exploitation of small deposits and providing comprehensive long-term land reclamation.;

Короткий огляд (реферат): The present study Highlights about efficient use of mineral raw resources and mining and industrial waste in the regional aspect. Rational (effective) use of nature in the mineral and raw material base of the regions of Ukraine involves a number of measures that contribute to its optimization. At the same time, the solution to the specified problem includes the complex development of mineral deposits, complex use of mineral raw materials and mining waste, optimization of the structure of mining production and consumption of mineral raw materials. The modern interpretation of the rational use of subsoil resources extends to all stages of their development, including the issue of mining waste. At the moment, a huge amount of waste from the mining industry has accumulated on the territory of Ukraine, which creates not only economic and ecological but also significant social and demographic problems. The environmental situation has become particularly acute due to the accumulation of toxic waste, among which the most dangerous are heavy metals, petroleum products, and acid resins. The formation of sustainable development of Ukraine requires not only the development of newly discovered reserves of natural raw materials but also the use of man-made raw materials accumulated in more than 1,600 man-made deposits and objects. Optimizing the development of the country's mineral and raw material base requires an urgent solution at the state level to the problems that inhibit its growth and ecological improvement on the basis of rational use.

Назва: Busk Forestry Enterprise (Ukraine): Historical and Geographical Formation Features and Current State
Автори: Havryshok, Bohdan; Syvyi, Miroslav; Demyanchuk, Petro; Hrytsyshyn, Victoria; Pytuliak, Myroslava
Короткий огляд (реферат): Our research is based on the processing and territorial interpretation of statistical data from the Busk Forestry Enterprise. Based on these data, we constructed and analyzed maps showing species composition, age structure, and wood stock across different forestry districts. The following characteristic features of the region's forestry were identified: uneven forest cover in the studied area, significant fragmentation of the forest fund in the southern part of the forestry's activity zone, the location of large forested areas in the northwestern part of the forestry, dominance of species such as pine, oak, and alder, slight increase in forest cover in certain areas due to the creation of pine plantations on non-agricultural lands, and the active expansion of black alder forests on waterlogged pastures.
The aim of the proposed study is to conduct a geospatial examination of the species composition, age structure, and economic use of the Busk Forestry Enterprise's forest plantations, as well as a retrospective geographical assessment of the forestry territory formation. The practical importance of the research increases in the context of land resource management in newly created communities. The spatial aspects we have developed will also be useful for forestry workers both in the process of consolidating forestry enterprises and in the formation of new forest plantations.
The research was conducted using cartographic materials from different periods, allowing us to trace the development of typical forested areas from the late 18th century to the present. We employed the method of temporal cross-sections and a diachronic approach. The study includes fragments of cartographic materials for key areas.
We examined the division of the forest fund by categories and established that the largest portion of the Busk Forestry Enterprise's forest fund is occupied by operational forests. Protective forests account for 1.5% of the total forest area in the studied region. Forest availability for the population in the Krasnensky territorial community averages 0.12 hectares per person, while in the Busk community, it is 0.61 hectares per person.
